Telehandler & Conveyor Perform Load Reduction of Alfalfa Pellets
Scope:
The railroad needed a load of alfalfa pellets to be reduced by 10,000 lbs. Hulcher deployed a Caterpillar® TH560B telehandler, a conveyor and a haul truck.
Solution:
The crew set up the conveyor and opened the car’s bottom hatch. The telehandler driver used its four-wheel steering system to maneuver in the tight area and position the dozer scoop to catch the pellets as they were off-loaded.
Outcome:
When the scoop was full, the telehandler’s telescoping 44-foot boom easily lifted and dumped its load into the haul truck. The project was completed successfully, on time and on budget.

A chronic problem for one Midwestern community was the old and worn-out railroad crossing in the center of town. The ride over the tracks was always a bumpy one and extremely hard on the vehicles that crossed it on a daily basis.
