As a leading contractor for railroads, industry, grain, coal, trucking / intermodal, environmental consultants and the government, Hulcher Services performs a broad spectrum of support services. Many jobs we perform fall outside of our main service lines and are listed in the general heading of Maintenance Services.
If you operate a rail yard, industrial facility, grain storage facility or trucking operation, you know the to-do list of tasks needed to maintain those properties is endless. Cleaning, repairing and rebuilding, painting . . . every time you complete one job, two more need to be done.
Hulcher's crews have responded to perform an endless list maintenance tasks for railroads and industry. Our laborers have been background checked, trained and certified to work for all Class I Railroads so they are safe and qualified to work at rail yards. In addition, Hulcher is bonded and insured in all 50 states; our liability insurance policies expressly delete the usual exclusion for work within 25 or 50 feet of railroads.

Case Study - Forklift Ramp and Parking Lot Asphalt The diesel shop’s loading dock allowed forklifts to bring in palletized shipments of heavy cargo such as traction motors from semi trailers to the storage sheds. Unfortunately, the shop’s dock ramp had a rough, uneven surface that added to wear and tear on forklifts and increased the risk for mishaps during transport. Additionally, the surrounding parking lots had several cracks and potholes that needed attention. |

Project Snapshot - Hulcher Crew Performs Asphalt Work at Rail Yard A 40-foot stretch of road between the tracks and the trim tower at a rail yard was badly pitted with potholes, and needed repair. The railroad needed a qualified railroad contractor to perform the asphalt road repair close to the tracks. |

Case Study - Hulcher Completes Demolition of Sand Tower and Oil Filling Station
The railroad’s sand tower and adjacent oil filling station were no longer being used and had become an “eye sore” for the local residents. Rather than incurring the expense to maintain the building and tower, the railroad decided the best option was to demolish them. After a competitive bidding process, Hulcher Services was chosen for this project. |

Case Study - Hulcher Services Grades Five-Acre Lot and Creates Asphalt Pads, Roads and Pathways at Rail Yard The railroad tore down an old building at their yard, opening up a large area to use for outdoor storage. With the demolition completed, the railroad needed a contractor to grade and prepare the space and put in asphalt roads, pads and paths for their Materials Department to use. |

Case Study - Hulcher Sidebooms, Track Loaders Moves 170 Ton Industrial Dredge With Precision An aggregate company was ending its lease of a sand pit and needed to relocate its large industrial dredge to another pit approximately one mile away. They needed a company with the hardware capable of safely moving this 340,000 lb., 90’ x 20’ piece of equipment over land. |
