Even the railroads and other transportation businesses need help with basic projects. Industry and government agencies do as well. At times, a company's internal resources are busy with other tasks or not available to perform construction, maintenance or other chore work tasks, or circumstances may make it more cost-effective to outsource a job of this type. Whatever the reason, railroads and industry frequently need a reliable, qualified contractor to perform a construction, maintenance or chore work project.
Hulcher Services offers a full range of construction, maintenance and manual labor services to our clients. Just a few of these tasks we have performed include:
Construction, maintenance and chore work projects sometimes occur as independent taskings but often occur within the context of other projects. In particular, construction jobs frequently follow building demolitions, railroad crossing demolitions, railroad bridge maintenance, disaster response, environmental remediation and asphalt services. These construction jobs include road construction, parking lot construction, railroad crossing construction and more.
Likewise, our manual labor resources occasionally are used without equipment but most frequently they take support projects where our equipment is also used. Our chore work crews support almost every service we provide.
Hulcher's crews have been background checked, trained and certified to work for all Class I Railroads so they are safe and qualified to perform construction, maintenance and manual labor work at rail yards and along the right-of-way. Being a railroad contractor, Hulcher is approved for operations within 25 feet of the track as well. Hulcher brings a level of experience, railroad professionalism and the right qualifications to construction, maintenance and chore work projects that no other contractor’s personnel can match. Maintenance services may require the use of heavy equipment and Hulcher maintains a nationwide fleet of sidebooms, cranes, excavators, dump trucks, dozers, track loaders and wheel loaders, and more to meet these needs.

|Case Study - Forklift Ramp and Parking Lot Asphalt
The diesel shop’s loading dock allowed forklifts to bring in palletized shipments of heavy cargo such as traction motors from semi trailers to the storage sheds. Unfortunately, the shop’s dock ramp had a rough, uneven surface that added to wear and tear on forklifts and increased the risk for mishaps during transport. Additionally, the surrounding parking lots had several cracks and potholes that needed attention.
|Case Study - Excavator / Vibratory Hammer Pile Driver Drive H-Beams for Sound Barrier Wall at Hump Yard
The noise from a hump yard's master retarder interefered with the work environment at a nearby locomotive repair shop. The railroad decided to build a sound barrier made of stacked concrete, supported by H-beams; they needed a pile driver contractor who was qualified to work at the busy hump yard to set up the steel framework for the sound barrier.
|Case Study - Hulcher Services Grades Five-Acre Lot and Creates Asphalt Pads, Roads and Pathways at Rail Yard
The railroad tore down an old building at their yard, opening up a large area to use for outdoor storage. With the demolition completed, the railroad needed a contractor to grade and prepare the space and put in asphalt roads, pads and paths for their Materials Department to use.
