As a leading railroad contractor in the United States, Hulcher Services plays a big role in helping the railroads meet the requirements of the Positive Train Control (PTC) Program.
According to the Federal Railroad Administration, "PTC systems are integrated command, control, communications, and information systems for controlling train movements with safety, security, precision, and efficiency."
Positive Train Control - PTC promises to improve safety on the railroads by reducing the probability of collisions between trains, casualties to roadway workers and damage to their equipment. The system will also improve security by providing more precise monitoring and remote intervention capability.
In addition to improving safety and security, Positive Train Control - PTC systems also help railroads to control and implement their scheduled operations more effectively, and enjoy improved asset utilization and greater track capacity.
Hulcher supports the implementation of railroads' Positive Train Control - PTC system with various critical contractor services, primarily involving the demolition of old signals bridges and structures.
Hulcher's Positive Train Control (PTC) equipment includes:
Hulcher is uniquely positioned to support the PTC initiative:
Anyone who has worked with railroad contractors knows that the most important part of any piece of heavy equipment is the operator. Hulcher’s operators are railroad specialists. They have received training in railroad applications, are current in safety and security certification requirements for all Class I railroads, and have spent years perfecting their craft in maintenance-of-way environments. With their extensive railroad experience, our operators can work seemlessly with your rail gangs.
Our experienced crews can work seemlessly to support your signals or engineering teams as they build in the new infrastructure for the future PTC system.
Positive Train Control - PTC is a high profile program with regulatory and technical impacts that affect your entire network. When your Positive Train Control (PTC) project calls for equipment that is properly equipped, expertly operated and available when you need it, call Hulcher at 800-637-5471.
|Case Study - Hulcher Services Demolishes Signals Bridge, Cantilever and Signals Tower for Positive Train Control (PTC) Project
The railroad installed new signals along a two-mile stretch of track to support Positive Train Control (PTC) when that program goes online. They needed to have an existing five-track signal bridge, cantilever and tower removed and the new signals rotated into place over the tracks.
